Tax audit in the event of a business succession

Meeting of the Chamber of Crafts in Frankfurt (Oder) (Handwerkskammer Frankfurt (Oder) – Region Ostbrandenburg) for owners who are preparing to hand over their business to a successor, and for people taking over a business. Original title: „Betriebsprüfung bei der Nachfolge – mögliche Nachforderungen nach der Übergabe”.

A business can be audited by, among others, the tax office, Deutsche Rentenversicherung and the Berufsgenossenschaft – this also happens after the business has been handed over. Who is then liable for arrears from the period before the change of owner: the successor or the previous owner? How can the latter protect themselves against retroactive liability, and how can claims be separated in terms of civil and tax law? The matter will be discussed by tax advisor Sylvia Dittrich from Fürstenwalde/Spree and Anja Schliebe, the chamber's legal adviser.
